Group therapy will not be offered until meeting in person becomes safely accessible. If you would like to receive full information when this becomes available please sign up below.

Who is this group for?

Adult women and non-binary individuals who are survivors of interpersonal, childhood, sexual and/or complex trauma.

What is the group format?

The group will be closed to 10 individuals or less. Each session will start with Trauma-Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) and move to a group therapy portion including a blend of sharing and psychoeducation.

The group will centre on 5 core themes:

  • SURVIVAL MODE & FINDING SAFETY

  • INTRAPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP - RELATIONSHIP TO SELF

  • INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP - RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

  • COMING BACK TO COMMUNITY

  • CULTIVATING CARE & GROWTH

These five core themes are heavily influenced by the work of Judith Herman and the core components of TCTSY.

This group is designed to have a blend of safe containment and flexibility in a true trauma sensitive approach.

The facilitator of this group is Crystal Tierney (She/her). She is a cis, hetero, able bodied woman residing on Algonquin Anishinaabe territory. She acknowledges her privileges and practices openness, compassion, and curiosity in her personal anti-oppressive work. She does this while simultaneously holding space for her own healing and continued growth as a survivor.

Opportunity for semi-closed yoga practices with group member graduates:

There may be opportunity for a regular semi-closed yoga practice available to those who have completed this group program or have been screened for goodness of fit. This would be based on demand for a predictable space to practice TCTSY that is considered safe to the individual.
